I was born in Portland, Oregon in 1952. I attended The Oregon School of Arts and Crafts and Lewis and Clark College. In 1975 I did the very first Portland Saturday Market, an outdoor market modeled on European street fairs. It gave the most wonderful education in direct marketing available. Every week, rain, shine, volcanic eruptions or blizzards, there was instant feedback from the customer and sometimes sales. I began as a soft toy maker and later turned to ceramics. I have worked as a craftsperson full time for 25 years now. I live in Eugene Oregon, am married to a potter, and have 2 grown daughters. My oldest is trained in graphic arts and is now in school studying computers and designing this web page. My youngest has just graduated with a degree in painting and is off to New York for further studies. I have a wirehair fox terrier, Sparky who serves as inspiration for many of my pieces. |
